Chapter Two.

The Unity in the Trinit.

One of the things that most impresses me in the Divine Trinity is the way the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit honor each other. 

* One works to honor the other.

Jesus spoke with love, respect and honor about the Father. 

He never forgot to give him priority:  Jesus gave them this answer: 

“Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does."

"For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it."

"Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him”.  (John 5.19-23)

In the episodes of the Jordan River and the Mount of Transfiguration, the Father legitimized his Son in front of men.

* Jesus in the Jordan River.

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said:

“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”          (Matthew 3.16-17)

* Jesus’ Transfiguration.

“Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah. 

- While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said: 

“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” 

- When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground, terrified.- But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” 

"When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.” (Matthew 17.4-8)

There is no jealousy between Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. 

* One works to honor the other. 

They coexist together forever and they complete each other.

* Three in one.

Twenty years ago, in Brazil, a household appliance called Three in one was released.

It was a radio, tape recorder and a CD player all in one. It was very popular. I had a blast with my “Three in one” stereo system. 

One time, when I was thinking about the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit Trinity, my spirit received an instruction. 

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit work together the same as my stereo system Three in one does.       It was a Holy Spirit revelation.

“- When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.” (John 15.26)

“-But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” (John 16.7)

“- And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” (John 20.22)

* The triangle.

Geometry also offers a good example of the Trinity with the shape of the triangle. Three equal sides that together create one of the most beautiful geometric shapes. 

* Star and triangle connections.

As an electrician, I learned to make ground connections in the shape of a triangle, since I was eighteen years old. Industrial powerful motors work in star and triangle connections. 

Many houses and even buildings today are built in the shape of a triangle. The triangle is everywhere. 

Blessed be the unity between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!

* The Triunity in History. (Dispensations) 

Dispensation is a period when God works in specific ways with specific people. 

Since Creation until the day of Pentecost, we can observe divinity people acting in specific dispensations.

* The Father’s Dispensation.

The Father appears with more emphasis in the Creation and in leading the history of humanity. 

He spoke directly to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He used judges and prophets to speak with His people. 

The Hebrew author taught us that in the past the Father used to speak to us through the prophets.

“In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways.” (Heb. 1.1)

We conclude that was the Father’s dispensation.

In the same book, we read that on Jesus’ last days, the Father spoke to us through his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things.

“- but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom also He made the universe."

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word."

"After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs."

"For to which of the angels did God ever say: “You are my Son; today I have become your Father”? Or again, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son”? And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him”. (Heb. 1.2-6)

* The Son’s Dispensation.

The Son’s dispensation started on the days of King Herod, when 

* Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, just as Isaiah had prophesized:

“- For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9.6)

When Jesus came to the world, the Father appeared to us and revealed himself to us through Jesus, his beloved Son.

* Jesus is the exact expression of the Father.

“- Philip said - Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us. Jesus answered: - Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seenme has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?”  (John 14.8- 9)

* What Jesus wanted to show to Philip was that: “I and the Father are one.” (John 10.30)

In his dispensation, Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil."

“ Then Peter began to speak: I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism - but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right. - You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all."

"You know what has happened throughout the province of Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.” (Acts 10.34-38)

* The Holy Spirit’s Dispensation.

On the days of Jesus’ dispensation on Earth, he promised to his disciples a permanent Counselor. 

An advocate who would guide them in truth and who would remind them of everything Jesus said to them. 

Who was this person? The Holy Spirit. 

* What was the dispensation? 

The Holy Spirit’s dispensation. 

We live it, today. 

Halleluiah!

* The Advocate.

“- But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you”. (John 14.26)

“- When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me”. (John 15.26)

“-But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you”. (John16.13-14)

After the resurrection and before he ascended into heaven, Jesus asked his disciples:

“- I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high”. (Luke 24.49).

“On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: - Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about."

"For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. Then they gathered around him and asked him: - Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"

"He said to them: - It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”. (Acts. 1.4-8)

In the entire book of Acts, we find the Holy Spirit in action. 

* Many Pastors and theologians have suggested that the book should be called Acts of the Holy Spirit.  I am one of them. 

The way the book starts reinforces this idea.

“Until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen”. (Acts 1.2)

“And said, -“Brothers and sisters, the Scripture had to be fulfilled in which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus”. (Acts 1.16)

“Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers”. (Acts 9.31)

Based on the verses above, we understand that we are living in the Holy Spirit Era! 

No one will be successful in life following his own beliefs and carnal desires. 

Starting with me, we need to recover our intimacy and dependency on the Holy Spirit.

Today’s crisis is that we lack preachers anointed and sealed by the Holy Spirit. 

We lack believers such as Paul who said: 

“Because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake”. (1 The. 1.5)

The passages below will help you live a life of dependency on the Holy Spirit:

• (Psalms 51.11)- Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.

• (Mark 13.11)- Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever isgiven you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

• (Acts 10.44) - While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 

• (I Co. 6:19) - Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? 

• (Eph. 1.13) - And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit. 

• (Eph. 4.30) - And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

• (2 Tim. 1.14) - Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. 

• (Jude 1.20) - But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit.
